Our Trip to NYC

Abby has been studying Egypt in history so we took a trip to the Metropolitan Art Museum.

As we entered the city we saw this poster. I'm not sure what it was for, but we thought it must be how people go tubing down the Hudson - fully suited.

Almost as soon as we got there Lydia found a friend.

More cool things......
I was taken with this shield.

Calling of Joan of Ark

NYC Library....

The original Winnie the Pooh!

Out on the streets.....

Way down at the end of this street you can see the Empire State Building.

Broadway!
You can't see in this picture, but this is the clothing district.
The the windows had bolts and bolts of material in them!

The Time Square ball.

The Joy of Being a Sub-Creator

I was growing up. I was graduating and could no longer play soccer for our homeschooling high school team. I loved soccer, not just for the game, but the people I played with and the lessons I had learned about endurance and the Christian life.
Being out in the soccer field I knew the presence of God, but now it was all going to end. Eccl.-3:1 says "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven." But doesn't God want His children to glimpse Him and have a sense of His presence? If I wasn't able to play soccer any more what was I to do?
As I lie on the floor in my room thinking this thought, God brought this to my mind:
galaxies, water, sound waves, physics, all things great and small, the salvation story.
All these things He had created. He seemed to say, "Do you really think I'm not creative enough to provide something else for you?"
I had limited God. I had believed soccer was the only way I would see his glory. But God is faithful, in fact, "His saints what is fitting shall ever be denied so along as it's written 'the Lord will provide.'" God has blessed me with the ability to and the love of making things with my hands. As I do this I glimpse, in a very small way, the delight God must taken in forming the universe. He has made me to be a sub-creator in order to reflect Him and I am so thankful to be His.

Early Morning Snow

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord said to Satan, "The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?"

Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the Angel. The Angel said to those who were standing before Him, "Take off his filthy clothes."

Then He said to Joshua, "See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put rich garments on you."

Then I said, "Put a clean turban on his head." So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the Angel of the Lord stood by.
Zachariah 3:1-5

...though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;

though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool
Isaiah 1:18

The beauty and purity of the snow reminding me this morning of the black, dirty sin that was mine and the pure, radiant righteousness this is now mine through Christ.
What a beautiful morning, and what a wonderful Savior!
