We're alive!...and other news

If anyone has been faithfully checking our blog this month (do any of you actually check this blog regularly??) we are so sorry we haven't been updating! July has been a busy month for us. I thought that a post about the highlight of the month would be a good idea! So here are pictures from our family camping trip to the Adirondacks.

I find taking pictures of our jam-packed van quite amusing. And no, that was not all! The entire van looked like that with a few empty spaces to squeeze six people in. And we filled up the camper that some dear friends allowed us to borrow with "stuff" as well! I was fully expecting the van to burst at the seams.

Home, sweet home. Number 177.

Our dear friends totally impressed us with their camper-backer-inner skills.

Carissa and Abby look on in awe. Or making bets, perhaps? :)

A shot of Daddy setting up camp in a torrential downpour. An exciting start to an exciting week.

I call this cheat camping. But I sure wasn't volunteering to chop the wood, so....

And a few pictures of the facilities. This is the main building with the cushy couches and fireplace (I know, why would you need a fireplace in July, right? Only in NY).

The basketball court, where I discovered that I can't shoot a basket to save my life. Oh well.

Miss Abby on the playground. Loved that tire swing.

The put-put course, where I discovered that I can't putt to save my life either. *sigh*

Volleyball! There's something I can do! I actually have no idea who that camera-happy, "take my picture" boy is jumping in the air. But he posed so well, didn't he? :) Caroline is the gal in the pink and brown.

This giant chess board was, in my opinion, the best feature of the whole place. The picture you see is of Caroline beating me very badly. I used to be the chess champ...

Daddy in deep contemplation.

And because taking pictures on giant chess boards is so much fun, Caroline, Abby, and I staged a photo. Carissa says we look creepy. I say artsy. What do you think? :)

My favorite picture of the week. Caroline leaving the boys in the dust in an obstacle course race. Again, she's the one in the pink and brown.

My book for the week. Can you believe I've never read it before? I think it's hilarious.

The pond right off our camp site. Affectionately named 'The Lake of Shining Waters". Carissa was having an Anne of Green Gables moment.

A beautiful spot called Split Rock. Breath taking.
Carissa, totally not posing :)
Abby, totally posing ;)
Perfect day for a shadow picture! I'm on the left holding a camera, Carissa's on the right holding her apple juice. Just thought I'd clear that up.

A beautiful evening on the lake before fireworks. I hope you all have had a blessed July! Have a peaceful summer evening.

  1. Ah, Lydia, you had me laughing through all of that! Lol! =:D I just love your sense of humor! Thanks for the update and the pictures! It looks like you had a lot of fun together! I love that giant chess board (although I can't play), it's so cool! =:)

I love your sister's name for the lake, Ha Ha! Perfect! I can't throw worth beans either (not too sure about my putting skills, I guess I'm okay!?)

We always stuff our van when we go on trips (even if it's only for a 3 days or so! Lol!) I always pack so that I am prepared (you know, for avalanches, fire, hurricane, someone cutting their arm off, etc. JK!). I do pack to much though! =;)

    Blessings and Hugs!
