Who's Your Role Model?

"Brad Pitt!" screamed the television add, " A special interview on faith, family, and the one thing that matters the most."

My first response was one of amusement. Who was Brad Pitt to give advice on faith, family, and the one thing that matters? Are we talking about the same guy; the one who's been married, divorced, and then sort of married? Who takes the poor man seriously anyway?

The answer came this morning when I saw the end of the interview while looking for the morning's weather report. It appeared as though half of America was outdoors in the cold, grappling for a view of the famous Mr.Pitt, and hanging on every single word he was saying. Perhaps they were waiting for a few words of wisdom to drop from his lips; so was I. At least I was hoping that he might give the poor, shivering people some thing inspirational to go home with. It didn't come.

Since this morning, I have been thinking a great deal about the people I admire and why. Most of the names I have come up with are either great Christian thinkers and theologians, or the homeschooling moms of my acquaintance (you all know who you are!). I admire men who are bold lions for the gospel, yet tender and loving to their wives and children. I admire women who do not see home as a prison, children as a nuisance, or submission to their husbands as demeaning.

What qualities do you admire and seek to exhibit? I would love to know what you think!
