Pondering

Don't look forward to the challenges and chances of this life in fear; rather look to them with full hope that, as they arise, God, whose you are, will deliver you out of them. He has kept you hither to, -do you but hold fast to His dear hand, and He will lead you safely through all things; and, when you cannot stand, He will bear you in His arms...The same everlasting Father who cares for you today, will take care of you tomorrow, and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering, or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace then, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Delicious Cookies

I haven't posted for awhile so I thought I would share some of the fruits of my labors from this morning.

Wheat Germ Oatmeal Cookies

Mix together:

1 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup skim milk powder

1/2 tsp salt

Add:

1/2 cup oil (veg. or canola)

2 eggs

2 tsp almond extract (I had to use vanilla today)

Stir In:

2 1/2 cup oats (rolled or instant)

1/4 cup wheat germ

Optional: Sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, oat bran, chocolate chips, raisins (use more oats if you omit these ingredients)

Grease cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

A friend gave me this recipe several years ago and I love it! Oatmeal cookies are my favorite and I especially love all the different tastes of the seeds and the raisins. Very yummy! :)

I hope you all are enjoying the beautiful month of May. Have a great day!

A Penny for your Thoughts

A friend asked me a question this afternoon that has made me do some deep thinking. And, since I don't like to be the only one thinking deeply, I thought I'd make you all think too! Here's the question:

What is the Gospel?

Don't laugh yet. Think about it. Think about it long and hard. It was amazing and sobering to me how many times the word "ummm" escaped my mouth as I hemmed and hawed for an answer to this surprisingly deep question.

So now I want to hear what you think! As this friend pointed out, if we as Christians couldn't even say what the Gospel is, than how can we possibly explain it to a non-believer?

A penny for your thoughts?

Lord's Day

There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Emmanuel’s veins;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains.

The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day;
And there have I, as vile as he,
Washed all my sins away.

E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die.

Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never loose its power
Till all the ransomed church of God,
Be saved to sin no more.
~William Cowper
